Chili Fest 2010

Outdoor, at the Chili Fest in the old part of downtown Dubuque. This world's shortest and steepest railroad was built in 1882, so Mr. J.K. Graves could get home quicker and back to work during noon lunch time.

Today it is open to the public to ride. Dubuque is full of steep bluffs like this.

The Band played good stuff,
This is the last outdoor music event for the year, Oh being I can't write about riding a bike today, I will congratulate my neighbor Ken. who has lived across the street from me for the last 25 plus years. Ken has been Dubuque's elected County Sheriff for the last 13 years. The Senate confirmed Dubuque County Sheriff Ken Runde to the post of U.S. marshal. One day last year when I came home from work a FBI agent was waiting to interview me to do a character reference on Ken.
Runde, who has been with the Sheriff's Department for nearly 34 years, was recommended in April 2009 by U.S. Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, to serve as U.S. marshal for the Northern District of Iowa.
President Barack Obama made the nomination official in June, and on Wednesday night the Senate confirmed the appointment for Runde.
Obama must sign his confirmation before Runde can be sworn into office, and Runde predicted that process would be complete next month.
So good for you Ken, congratulations.
Ok now back to bicycling, tomorrow I have the whole day to explore the country side on a bicycle. I am not sure of my destination, but it's the journey that's most important.
Ok, I gotta go check the biker blogs, so I can bike ride vicariously through them today.
RideON,
DAve.

Wise up, Dave. Ken is a plant. The Feds have been very interested in your comings and goings over the years. And now with the addition of Creepy Baby to your household, the investigation has been reopened.

I knew that. You just blew my cover, I am going underground now, don't try to find me.

I think your going underground will mean hopping on your bike and riding off into the sunset! Just remember to come back tomorrow night.

The chili fest looked interesting.

Music, food, beer and the one you love....that's a good day.

I'm sure Creepy Baby and the recent bat infestation have something to do with the Feds poking around.

Steep bluffs in Iowa? I thought Iowa was flat as a pancake...

Looks a cracking day mate, food, beer, music, what's not to love!

Yes DAN-O I know this all connected in some weird and evil way to a sinister plot. Someday this will all be a blockbuster hit.
Oh the steep bluffs only in North East Iowa where the glaciers didn't carve the lands flat. Very hilly here.

And now with no further ado, I'm off for a day of bicycling. :-)
