I done did it again, I couldn't help myself

Beautiful day for a bike ride. Did Dirt Metric Century today, rode a lot of it on Heritage Trail that makes 21 metric centuries and 3 hundred milers on dirt/gravel for 2009. Was hard to keep my heart rate up in a good workout zone, took a harder push. There was a bit of fatigue going on, didn't want that to mess the ride today. Unless you've been there, hard to understand, but nothing like 5 hours riding a bike, on dirt trails, gravel, sliding around, tuned into music, in your own world, your own thoughts. Trek XO2 perfect bike for rides like this.
Ride on

Man you are getting a lot of dirt miles. Looks like you'll be more than ready for Trans Iowa V.6

21 metric and 3 Imperial dirt/gravel centuries is like 21 metric and 3 Imperial centuries more than I did before Trans Iowa V.5 LOL!

George what you did at Trans V is incredible. Not having the "gravel base" flying in and not using your own bike, basically flying solo, and finishing where you did, WoW.
Job well done. I told Dave Mable of "Cup O Dirt" one of my goals was to ride 24 centuries this year. So ride on I must.
Keep on riding.

Thank you for the kind words.

My greatest asset is my endurance base. Sure there's skill involved in riding gravel, in particular fresh gravel, but in the course of 300 miles you get the hang of it LOL!

What I didn't wasn't incredible. It was an example of someone being darn stubborn and having too much pride to come back to southern California and tell my friends and coworkers that I was one of the 74% that DNF'd.

Honestly, once you build that base, and know your nutrition, 100 miles or a 1000 miles is just the same formula over and over and over...
