Saturday and Sunday riding
Riding through the snow.
Me checking out the control system in Pittsburg
Went out yesterday and did some pavement riding. Today went out on Heritage Trail an all dirt trail though the country side. It was first snow ride for the season. Was going to put my studded snow tires on saw there wasn't going to be frozen ice patches so went with the knobbies. Well that was 5 days of riding in a row. Now work will interfere with riding. We are in the process of installing and starting up a new control system for the turbine/boilers. Days off will be few and far between untill sometime in February :-(. If I can get three spins in a week to "keep the legs" I will have to be happy with that.

Was a good ride
Spots like this you didn't know if there was ice underneath.
I found where hog heaven was.
Rode 65 miles on dirt trail and gravel. There were some icy spots that I had to just coast over. There was light snow cover, and in a few places there was glare ice underneath. You didn't know where it was, I would have to relax and coast over these spots. This time of year there is quite a temperature change, as you ride into the afternoon from early morning. Shedding clothes as it warmed up.

Dubuque to Dyersville and Back
Going to ride the paths, trail, dirt, and gravel to Dyersville and back today (100K # 18) . Beautiful day sunny and 28 degrees F starting out. Yesterday I rode 20 on pavement, just to enjoy some music and ride before Thanksgiving Beer and turkey took over.
Today will require proper attire. I think I will bring my lobster gloves and switch later to a more dextrous set of gloves when it warms up.
Headed out :-)

My ride today
This is up in Eagle Point Park, where the Eagle Point Criterium is ran. http://www.chainreactioncycling.org/EPC2008.htm
Rode the Trek 1600 on pavement for 20 miles today, hilly course. Ice patches were out to get me. You can see by pic that ice and these tires do not mix. Picked up my Trek XO2 from the shop today http://bicycleworlddbq.com/ repairs were needed after my biff last week.

Temperature 32 Felt like 22
Went out and cranked out 20 miles on hilly pavement today. Took my Trek 1600. Ride felt good, legs had some zip in them to push the pace a bit. Hands were cold for the first half, and body heat set in. Headed out to Alliant's Power Plant early Christmas party with my honey tonight. Here's a summer picture of us.

I BIFFED!!!!!!
Well set out this morning, carefully considering what to wear to keep warm without overheating. It was about 15 degrees F when I started. my plan was to ride a 100K from Dubuque to Dyersville on the gravel and dirt.
I was about 25 miles into the trail ride and went over a stick about 1" in diameter and it caught into my spokes locked the front tire when it came around and caught the frame and flipped me and the bike. I crashed the ground with my face, fortunately the helmet took a lot of the impact. Hurt my wrist a bit. Finished the ride, a bit sore did a 100k to make it my 17th, 100K for the year in dirt. Beautiful day for a ride. Going to have me a nice coffee cup.
Most of my route follows a good part of the "Triple D" course
Keep on biking
