Windy trail riding

The wind last night blew lots of trees down.
I thought about trying to carry my bike across the half finished bridge, but decided not to, and cut through a corn field and over a barb wire fence.

Another bridge getting rebuilt. The original bridge was washed out from the flood of June 08
Rode 62 miles today, enjoyed getting out in the country. Fought the wind all the way to Dyersville, but on the way home, I flew with 20 mph at my back. Hope tomorrow brings the same.

Headed out, cause I have to.

The girls say good morning
And I say gotta go.

Late Afternoon ride

Oh NO. Daylight savings time is going away for the season. Doesn't leave daylight to ride after work. I will take some half day vacation days to catch some riding time. Tonight I got out for an hours ride along the Mississippi river and Eagle Point Park.

Rainy day

Waiting for the rain to stop, wanted to ride some. Rain slowed down, streets were wet and full of leaves, slicker then snotty noodles. So rode the Xcross on pavement, more tire on the road.

Out in the country.

See that hole that my front tire is in? This is on a path I like to ride. The hole would come up on you by surprise, everything looks so much the same it was hard to judge where it was at. So I put this warning system in. So maybe it might prevent somebody from getting hurt.
LQQKs like an anaconda crawling across the road.

Creatures

I'm glad these things are not carnivores, they finally moved and let me through.

Another day in paradise.

I didn't know we grew cotton in Iowa.
This is one giant meth lab.

Seasons change.

Sunflowersssssssss

Last year we picked all the sunflower seeds, cleaned all leaves out, soaked in salt, baked in oven and ate em. This year I left them for the birds and squirrels.

Hmmm?!?!?!?

This is my son, Joshua, and my dog Pitty the Pit Bull. Should I be concerned?

On the road again.

Get off the phone and get riding.
Fall comes. Bicycling 4 seasons in Iowa, you learn. You learn to wear the just right clothing based on the weather. You make modifications based on what you wore and what the temps and wind was doing and how you felt the other times you were out riding. That's part of the fun. Riding, regardless of the weatherman says is happening.

Had a nice talk with Mr Pat Rea President of the Dubuque County Conservation Board. This is the sight of one of the destroyed bridges from the flood of 2008. He told me all the bridges are going to be repaired this year on Heritage Trail. WONDERFUL.

Lonely Girls

I heard what sounded like crying out in the garage today. So I checked it out. Found these lonely girls all sad. Well I see the doctor tomorrow. Will see if this non volunteered bicycling hiatus is over with.
Picked all the green peppers out of the garden today, and made a bucket of chili. Good stuff. Rebuilt a old Trek 1220 today. Put 33cc trail tires on, free wheel, brakes, seat, seat post, mirror, pedals, and chain on it. Want to try it on the hard packed dirt trails.

Going down the tubes
